Mónica Garcia is an architect and urban planner, who graduated with a degree in Architecture and Urban Planning by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon in 2005. She was awarded the “José Ressano Garcia Lamas Prize” upon completion of her degree, an annual prize which is attributed to the student who completes their degree in urbanism with the best average marks in all practical courses.
She started her professional career as an architect and urban planner in 2005. Her professional journey has given her the opportunity to learn from companies with a vast experience in the areas of urbanism and urban planning. Her professional activity has focused on urban and territorial planning, having acquired experience in the development and design of technical aspects of urbanism.
She has worked on multiple land-use plans and development strategies, both regional and municipal as well as smaller scale plans, nationally and internationally, namely in the design of urban areas, tourist areas and industrial areas. She has worked as a technical coordinator in the development of several land management instruments, namely master plans—Planos Diretores Municipais (municipal master plans), Planos de Urbanização (urban design plans) and Planos de Pormenor (site plans).
Mónica Garcia is a member of the Ordem dos Arquitetos (Institute of Portuguese Architects) and of the Colégio da Especialidade de Urbanismo (College of the Specialty of Urban Planning). She has been working at A1V2 since 2014.
