Project description
As part of the Special Plan for the Rehabilitation of the Coastal Zone of Cacuaco, the Marina became an infrastructure of reference in the Plan. It is an indisputable
landmark in the new image of the coastal region, markedly contributing to it as a recreational and touristic space. The marina is equipped with 610 berths for vessels of all recreational boating classes, which enables it to receive vessels up to 50 meters and with a maximum draft of 5 meters. All berths are equipped with water, electricity and daily picking of waste oils, and possess all necessary infrastructures for the provision of quality support services, such as toilets, showers, laundry, a well-equipped yard of 11 500 m2 with a ramp, a 70-ton “travel-lift” for vessels with up to 6,7 meters and cranes of 6 and 2 tons. There are also a number of maintenance boxes, operated by accredited entities, and workshops for major repairs. The supply dock is next to the waiting pier at the entrance of the marina and is open 7 days a week.
The marina has deep waters, allowing the circulation of vessels at any tide. There is also a wide entrance, with a 50 meter mouth, and spacious areas for manoeuvering. This facility’s exterior maritime work has a classical structure consisting of two breakwaters, making it accessible in any sea conditions. It also has a platform available for all kind of events and a touristic pier for mega yachts. In summary, this complex responds to a plan of urban organisation around the Angolan capital, articulating new centres of urban renewal and using infrastructures of reference that have become preponderant elements in the strategic planning of the territory.
This project demonstrates A1V2’s ability to flexibly develop an infrastructure of very specific characteristics, where functional efficiency and quality of space come together with an image of modernity and elegance.
