Project description

The project for the air terminal, ground support equipment storage house and fire station aimed to provide a functional, efficient, attractive and contemporary solution that works as a coherent and articulated set.

These new buildings were designed not as separate facilities, but as parts of a whole, in order to solve the preexisting problems, like the inadequacy and lack of articulation between the current infrastructures. Thus significantly upgraded, the aerodrome will visibly benefit from the adequate and harmonious conjunction of the proposed new facilities.

Given the distinctive features of the territory, careful integration of the architectural intervention into the location was a priority. The premisses of the intervention, as well as those of the call for tenders, determined the need to intervene with surgical precision on the landscape, reformulating the design and edifying new buildings and infrastructures.

The reference aircraft for this aerodrome is the Bombardier Dash Q200 (with a maximum capacity of 37 passengers). The air terminal hall was designed for an expected occupancy of 50 to 55 people. Beside this room, two check-in counters, a multipurpose room, boarding room, CIP (Commercially Important People) room, operation and administration offices, disembarkation room, baggage collection room, baggage terminal, security facilities and a ground support equipment storage house make up this air terminal.

With this proposal, A1V2 devised a building that distinguishes itself by its complete integration into the landscape, valuing and highlighting both natural patrimony and the existing construction.
