Project description

The Port of Lobito is the second largest cargo port of Angola. It is located in a geographically privileged area of enormous potential. The works are a part of a wider infrastructure recovery plan that encompasses the rehabilitation of the existing Port of Lobito.

This intervention covers diverse areas, such as paving, quay walls recovery, increase of container yard capacity and execution of an exclusive access for heavy road transportation through the construction of a new bridge over the Cuculas River. The reason for this exclusive access is to avoid the heavy traffic in the city center of Lobito.

This project also aims to expand the Port of Lobito through the implementation of a new quay wall with a length of 314 m supported by metallic piles. These interventions allow at the present time for ships with up to 15,2 m draught to harbour.
