Project description
The proposal for the house located in Quinta da Pesqueira included the complete remodelling and enlargement of a pre-existing habitation, which was severely degraded and presented serious issues. Facing south, the extension followed the original volumetric concept, maintaining a uniform whole.
In this way, we created a new front using new materials and better construction methods, conferring a contemporary character to the whole.
A1V2’s project was the perfect expression of the client’s desire to remodel the original house, giving it a renewed look, aesthetics and contemporary materials, with comfortable and inviting spaces.
The project includes the design of the main building — a two-storey family house, rectangular in shape, with approximately 11 m x 23 m – an underground garage with approximately 9,5 m x 9,5 m, located between the new main building and the existing one, and a reinforced concrete pool cast in situ. Distinct structural solutions for each storey were considered for the main building. The ground floor was designed as a concrete portal frame, whereas the first floor contained a steel portal frame and a secondary steel structure composed by cold formed profiles (Light Steel Framing – LSF). The adopted solution for the garage roof was of composite beams and slabs supported directly by the retaining walls.
